Explore the thrilling sights, smells, and sounds of night with Heard Trail Guides.
If you have ever been on a hike and the sun set before you finished, you know that experiencing a trail at night can be a completely different experience from hiking during the day. Landmarks change, as can your sense of direction. Even if you’ve hiked a trail several times, it can feel completely unfamiliar.

During our Night Hikes, attendees are encouraged to sharpen their senses to be able to spot signs of animal life and learn more about the inhabitants of the Heard.
*Please note that the reciprocal admission agreement (click here for guidelines) that the Heard has with Perot Museum, Fort Worth Museum of Nature & Science and ASTC Passport Program participants does not apply to education programs or special events.

Closed toed shoes, long pants, and bug spray are recommended.
Participants will be outdoors for at least an hour.
You may bring a flashlight; however, it must have a red lens (or red film covering the lense) on it to protect your night vision (and the night vision of guests around you) while looking for nocturnal animals! Head lamps are not permitted.
Children ages 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Hikes are at least an hour long and include varied terrain and may not be suitable for children under 5 years.
Admission for toddlers and infants 2 years and under is free, but they must be in a carrier or backpack. Strollers are prohibited.
Please note that all Night Hike and Owl Prowl Night Hike ticket purchases are non-refundable
If you are unable to complete the registration process online, tickets may be purchased at the admissions desk of the museum prior to the event, while supplies last.

Come and experience February’s full moon with us! First we’ll spend some time inside discovering features of the moon that you can see with your own eyes and with binoculars. We may even get a few pointers on some easy to spot constellations too. Then we’ll go out on a night hike that will include some time to practice spotting what we’ve learned.
Pre-registration required.
